Samsung has unveiled its latest AI model, Gauss, which is set to compete with other modern generative AI models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s DALL-E. Gauss consists of three distinct components: Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image, each designed for specific tasks.
Samsung Gauss Language is a versatile generative language model capable of composing emails, summarizing documents, translating content, and controlling devices, similar to Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
Samsung Gauss Code streamlines coding for developers by offering coding assistance, enabling rapid code composition, code description, and test case generation.
Samsung Gauss Image is a generative image model that can create and modify images, change their styles, and enhance low-resolution images.

The name “Gauss” pays tribute to the renowned mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, who contributed to the foundation of the Gaussian process, a fundamental concept in mathematics and AI.
Samsung plans to incorporate Gauss into its Galaxy S24 series in January 2024. The AI model is already being used by Samsung employees to boost productivity. Furthermore, it is expected that Gauss will expand to other Samsung devices, including tablets and laptops in the future.
Gauss represents Samsung’s ambitious entry into the generative AI field, offering a range of powerful tools for language, code, and image generation, with the potential to impact a wide array of applications beyond smartphones.
