Renowned Educator, Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, Takes the Helm as Permanent Executive Director of Higher Education Commission

Renowned education expert Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum has been appointed as the permanent Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, former Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University and Allama Iqbal Open University, was selected after a rigorous process that involved a search committee shortlisting 18 candidates. With an impressive score of 72 points, he emerged as the most qualified for the position.

The search committee, comprised of key figures including the HEC Chairman and prominent education experts, carefully considered the candidates before the HEC Board approved Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum’s appointment. The position of HEC’s permanent Executive Director had been temporarily filled since October 2018, and this appointment formalizes the end of the interim arrangement.
