In a recent announcement, the Lahore Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) revealed the disheartening results of the Intermediate Supplementary Examinations 2023. Shockingly, only 35.75% of the 53,000 students who appeared for the exams managed to secure passing grades. This means that a staggering 64% of candidates, amounting to 35,000 students, failed to pass the examination. The disappointment extends to the BISE Faisalabad, where only 38.79% of the 24,033 candidates successfully passed the supplementary exams.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to address ongoing educational challenges, the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) has decided to extend the deadline for submission of admission forms for the Secondary School Certificate (Matric) Annual Examination. Students can now submit their forms with a single fee until December 22. Additionally, the dates for submission with double and triple fees have been extended until January 05, 2024, and January 13, 2024, respectively.
These developments underscore a concerning trend in the educational landscape, highlighting the need for interventions and support to improve academic outcomes for students in the region. The low pass rates in the supplementary exams emphasize the challenges faced by students, and the extension of deadlines for Matric exam forms aims to provide some relief amidst the prevailing educational difficulties.
